Mac and cheese might be the ultimate comfort food (and something we hopefully don't need to argue about). Takeout will get the job done, but nothing really beats homemade when you are seriously stressing and need to eat an entire vat on your sofa while watching election results come in.

So here are our favorite recipes over the years that will get you through it. We gave you a lot of choices, because this is a democracy. And because salad is just not going to cut it right now.

Here is mac and cheese four ways. And one even includes POTATO CHIPS. You're welcome.

This is super easy and spices things up with Tabasco. If you've already got hot sauce in your bag, that makes things easier.

If you really love boxed mac and cheese, we are not judging you or making you move to Canada. We love it too. Here's a recipe that tastes just like it, using pantry ingredients.
<iframe width="100%" class="dmn-embed dn-embed--Story" scrolling="no" height="106" style="box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 100%; display: block; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; overflow: hidden; min-height: 96px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"></iframe>
This recipe comes from the Mansion, so it feels really fancy and 1 percenter-like.
<iframe width="100%" class="dmn-embed dn-embed--Story" scrolling="no" height="106" style="box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 100%; display: block; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; overflow: hidden; min-height: 96px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"></iframe>
This one has crab in it! Opulence. I has it.
<iframe width="100%" class="dmn-embed dn-embed--Story" scrolling="no" height="106" style="box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 100%; display: block; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; overflow: hidden; min-height: 96px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"></iframe>
I don't really understand why mac and cheese doesn't automatically include bacon.
<iframe width="100%" class="dmn-embed dn-embed--Story" scrolling="no" height="106" style="box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 100%; display: block; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; overflow: hidden; min-height: 96px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"></iframe>
With bottled Alfredo sauce and Velveeta! You should not eat this alone.
<iframe width="100%" class="dmn-embed dn-embed--Story" scrolling="no" height="106" style="box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 100%; display: block; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; overflow: hidden; min-height: 96px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"></iframe>
And for the finale: Lobster Mac and Cheese with Pretzel Bread Topping. God bless America.
<iframe width="100%" class="dmn-embed dn-embed--Story" scrolling="no" height="106" style="box-sizing: border-box; max-width: 100%; display: block; padding: 0px; border-width: initial; border-style: none; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; overflow: hidden; min-height: 96px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"></iframe>
